CHOCOLATE BOX 2018
Dear Chocolate Box Writer,
First of all -- thank you for writing for me! I'm requesting fic for all the fandoms below, and I am so excited to read what you come up with! Before we get to the fandoms I’ve requested, some generalities. I’m cool with any rating, from G to Explicit, and all the below are just suggestions and ideas.
GENERAL LIKES: unreliable narrators; nonlinear story-telling; moral complexity and/or ambiguity; backstory; missing scenes; outsider POV; blurring the lines between professional and personal relationships; epistolary fic; power-play; codependency (both healthy and unhealthy); loyalty; unexpected intimacy and physical intimacy; case fic; dark fic; super messy, complicated, and difficult to categorize relationships between characters (made all the better if/when they share a history and maybe probably repressed feelings); repression, generally; sexual tension; slow burn; infidelity; hurt/comfort; fake dating; AUs, both of the canon divergence variety and the whole new setting variety (though I am not the hugest fan of mundane AUs, i.e., coffeehouse AUs, high school/university AUs, etc.).
As I already mentioned, I totally invite ship fic or porn if you wish to write it. I do prefer when sex in a story is character-driven and rooted in emotional stakes for the characters involved rather than straight-up PWP. Which brings us to KINKS: friends to lovers; enemies to lovers; first time; workplace sex; rough sex; hate sex; drunk sex; dub-con of the sex pollen/fuck or die/villains made us do it variety (a caveat: this is me saying feel free to throw everything else in this post out and just write this trope if you feel so moved – it's an all-time favorite of mine); biting; breathplay; choking; orgasm denial; frottage; dirty talk; comeplay; voyeurism/exhibitionism; under-negotiated kink; threesomes; sex as ill-advised coping mechanism; sex as ill-advised attempt at communication between characters.
And last, GENERAL DISLIKES/DNWs: rape or non-con; A/B/O or omegaverse; scat or watersports; formal BDSM; issue fic; kid!fic (unless the characters canonically have children); and character bashing.
REQUESTS
THE GOOD PLACE (TV)
Michael (The Good Place)/Eleanor Shellstrop (The Good Place)
Their dynamic has easily become my favorite part of this show. I love so much how these two are more alike than they are different and how they are the best at undermining the other. I will gleefully read anything that is more of these two toying with each other, at whichever stage of canon you want: during the first attempt and before the Big Reveal or any other attempt between that and the eight hundred and two that follow. Or, you can build out more of what we have seen in the current attempt, namely Michael coming to talk to Eleanor LIKE HUMANS DO. Maybe in Michael's pursuit of ethics, he manages to develop complex and messy feelings for Eleanor he is completely ill-equipped to deal with (so deals with as only he knows how: via torture). Or, the fall-out after Shawn showed up in Michael's office before the hiatus! Maybe, as part of whatever cosmic tortures Shawn plans to enact, he insists that Eleanor accompany Michael (because misery loves company). Feel free to go as comical or as dark as you want!
Eleanor Shellstrop/Michael (The Good Place)/Real Eleanor Shellstrop | Vicky
OH BOY, the number one with a bullet prompt for this trio would be, essentially, Vicky (Demons?) Made Them Do It, lol. Vicky suspects Michael might have betrayed them and gone over to the human team, and her idea of demanding proof is demanding he fuck Eleanor — while Vicky watches, of course. Or, if you don’t want to tread so potentially dark and E-rated, I am down with any sort of shenanigans where Michael and Eleanor try to outpace Vicky in Attempt #802, or any other attempt for that matter. Or, go back to the first attempt with Vicky pretending to be The Real Eleanor Shellstrop! Michael purposefully pitting the two of them against each other as torture for Eleanor, but it backfires in some sort of threesome situation! Or, in any iteration, Eleanor and Vicky team up to go after Michael (for whatever reason! or Eleanor is playing Vicky who is playing Eleanor and they're both trying to play Michael!).
THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL (TV)
Miriam "Midge" Maisel/Lenny Bruce
I basically binge-watched this over the holidays, and I LOVE IT SO MUCH! It’s so delightful! So, of course, I want more of fictional Lenny Bruce ferrying Midge through the New York comedy underground underworld lol. More debauched Midge! More of the two of them if not bailing each other out of jail then at the least meeting up at late-night diners while Midge picks his pickled brain, trying to workshop her act. Maybe he randomly shows up to see her act. Maybe gossip reaches Joel, true or false, that Lenny Bruce is having an affair with an upstart comedienne. Maybe Lenny provides her with the worst advice possible in show business. Any, all of this, your own ideas: I'm game.
BABYLON BERLIN (TV)
Charlotte Ritter/Gereon Rath
I loved this show and I especially loved the relationship sketched out between these two. I’d be game for just about anything — post-S2 where Gereon is falling apart after all the bombshell revelations he was served in the finale and seeks if not comfort then distraction in the Berlin nightclub scene, with Charlotte. Or, the show didn’t really do much at all with the fact Gereon learned of Charlotte’s moonlighting as a prostitute, so if you wanted to play with that (to its inevitable, fucked-up conclusion), by all means. Or, instead of Gereon rescuing Charlotte, I could do with a story involving her rescuing him, in whatever capacity you might wish that to be.
DUNKIRK (2017)
Collins/Peter Dawson (Dunkirk)
Peter Dawson/Shivering Soldier (Dunkirk)
For both of these requests, it’s basically a variation on the same theme: how these men cope with the war after it’s over. The dynamic is different for the two different pairings — with what happened to George, I imagine anything involving the Shivering Soldier would be laced with something darker and far more painful — but I really like the idea of Peter, older, meeting again either Collins or the Shivering Soldier in a completely different, innocuous context. What happens next?
BLACK MIRROR
Nanette/Walton/Shania/Tulaska/Nate/Dudani
I LOVED this episode of Black Mirror so much and came away from it willing to watch six seasons and a movie of this gang aboard the USS Callister. As I’ve said for a lot of these requests: feel free to go as fun or funny or as dark as you want. Hijinks aboard the Callister is more than great to me, as would be playing around further with the Star Trek parody and where else they might travel to together. I was also very fascinated by the juxtaposition of their personalities — the copies Daly had created versus how they acted and behaved in real life at the office. If you wanted to find a way to explore that further, I am game. Or! If you wanted to play further into Star Trek tropes: MIRROR VERSE. What if piloting the ship into the wormhole only rebooted and reset everything in a universe that much worse? (Also for pure potential porn, their genitals can totally come back lol).
THE WEST WING
C.J. Cregg/Toby Ziegler (The West Wing)
This past fall I started rewatching this show, yet again, and it’s like every time I rewatch I come away shipping these two that much harder. Their dynamic is one of my all-time favorites, and I love how it always feels like there is so much unsaid between the two of them, so much history we only ever get in glancing blows. If you want to unspool some of that shared history between them, please do. If you want to write about the two of them on the campaign trail for Bartlet’s first term, I would love that. Late nights in the West Wing where it’s just the two of them in a poorly lit office trying to avert disaster while creating their own disasters of the personal variety, please. Post-canon and where they could go from … all that. Feel free to go AU with as many canon divergences as you want.

Whether you want to make it that they keep butting heads, or that the Screenwriter is the one truly responsible for the Actress’s success, or just some sort of screwball comedy of snappy banter I WILL LOVE IT ALL.
Female Archer/Male Enemy Swordsman
The roughest courtship known to man: by that, I mean every time they see each other they try to murder one another. Give me all the physical injuries and scars they have earned on the other! Maybe one or the other gets captured by the enemy! Maybe there’s a third party worse than each other and they reluctantly team up!
Female Confidential Informant/Her Female Handler
Oh boy, I want anything and everything. Set during the Cold War? Sure. The Informant is a whistleblower and the Handler has been coaxing the story out of her for months? AWESOME. The Informant is a liar and the Handler is just now beginning to suspect she can’t trust the information fed to her? AMAZING. A cat and mouse game where each thinks she’s the cat and trying to override the other’s legitimate distrust? PLEASE.
Female Journalist/Princess
Truly, all I need is a retelling of Roman Holiday, lol. Set it whenever! In whichever country — real or Hallmark TV fake! Maybe the journalist is cynical and exasperated and just dying for her big story!
King Brother/Co-Ruler In All But Name Sister
I’m definitely more than okay with incest for this request. Maybe his sister is the slyer, more Machiavellian of the two. Maybe she’s Lady Macbething hardcore. Or they truly are equals, one half of the same coin. GO WILD.
