Happy Trick or Treat!

This is my first year signing up, and I am incredibly excited to participate. I want to thank you for writing for me and I am thrilled to see what you come up with! As always, while this letter will be full of excited rambling and shouting from me, everything here are just suggestions. Please, do not feel boxed in by anything below and if you want to pick and choose amongst the likes or prompts I offer or if you have an idea in your head you wish to chase down--please! Go for it. I am sure I will love it.

For this exchange I am requesting all fic and I am fine with either trick or treat. I leave the decision up to you!

THE FAVOURITE (2018)

Abigail Hill Masham; Sarah Churchill Duchess of Marlborough

+ Needless to say, I absolutely ship them. Coercion, blackmail, hate sex to end all hate sex, sex as negotiation tactic, power imbalances, assassination attempts -- all the various manifestations of mutually-assured destruction you can think of? I'm here for it.

+ For a canon-divergent AU, Sarah is not removed from court and she stays to witness Abigail’s star rise and her own diminish. Passive aggressive to full-on aggressive encounters at various balls or in hidden hallways as Sarah learns she has no negotiating power left with those in Anne’s court? I'd love it.

+ Or, run darker with that canon-divergent AU and have a whole lot of escalating violence between Abigail and Sarah after Sarah returns from Abigail's poisoning. Maybe it leads to a series of assassination attempts against each other, more bodily personal each time until each attempt has taken on a more sexual bent with actual murder or assassination just as a pretext to be allowed to touch or hurt or fuck each other.

+ I feel this film lends itself beautifully to epistolary fic. If you wish to go this route, I would love that. Go as dark or as sad or as funny or heartfelt as you would like, through all the letters exchanged between Abigail and Sarah after Sarah is forced out of Anne's court. Or! Go the blackmail route, both of them trying to use what the other committed to the page against each other. Both lying to each other in writing while harboring very different private emotions.

+ Perhaps Abigail's machinations finally fail her and she finds herself ostracized from court same as Sarah. Exile them together! Plop them down in some sad country house where the two are to live out their remaining days, or until Anne forgives them. Whichever comes first.

+ Gunplay. All the gunplay. I loved the scenes of Abigail and Sarah shooting together, and I am all for that becoming all the more dangerous (and kinkier?) between them.

+ Time loop!: Every time Abigail thinks she has reached security and success, she wakes up to find herself back in the servants quarters and has to start wiling and scheming her way back up to the top.



READY OR NOT (2019)

Daniel Le Domas; Grace Le Domas

+ The first and the most obvious prompt: fix-it fic! Daniel survives his seemingly fatal injuries and for whatever reason he is the exception to the rule (maybe because he let her go?) and he, unlike the rest of his family does not explode. What happens next?

+ Other Rich People Rituals: the Le Domas family member who catches Grace gets to decide what to do with her. Yes, it’s the Fuck or Die old fandom chestnut lol. Give me all the ritual-based sex (preferably between Daniel and Grace) and all the awkwardness and guilt that follows.

+ Or, speaking of rich people: Grace doesn't draw the Hide and Seek card but she does become a proper Le Domas. You decide how dark and how evil that might be!

+ Backstory it: how and when did Grace and Daniel first meet? Give me all the weird “I’m marrying your brother but more intrigued by you than I’d care to admit” dirty bad wrong business. As mentioned up top, infidelity is a feature not a bug to me, so feel free to travel that route if you wish. That said, I do like Alex and would prefer his character isn't maligned to get Grace and Daniel together (in whatever capacity). That said part two: give me all the guilt and self-loathing and sneaking around!

+ Change the rules of the game! Hide and Seek isn’t just for the wedding night; it’s the first year of marriage. For one year, it’s open season on Grace as she is terrorized and has to figure out what’s going on and who is trying to kill her—and if she is capable of killing them first. Or, rather than hunted, her death lasts the entire year--drawn out, with Grace oblivious to what is happening to her.

+ Another canon divergent AU: Nothing all that strange happens the night of the wedding, but Grace comes to suspect her husband’s family is far more sinister than they let on. Go the Rosemary’s Baby route, as her suspicions mount and escalate and Grace cannot decide if they are unfounded or earned and she slowly descends into paranoid madness. (I’ll let you, the writer, decide if the family is actually the canonical devil worshippers they are or if Grace has simply imagined it!)

+ Time loop it! Grace takes a seat, covered in blood, on the front step and with the first inhale of her cigarette, she’s transported right back to her wedding day and she has to do it all over again. Does she remember each time? Is she the only one who realizes what is happening? What does she need to do to break the loop, or can it not be broken and this Mr. Le Bail’s real game?



SUCCESSION (TV 2018)

Kendall Roy; Siobhan "Shiv" Roy

+ As a caveat, I totally ship them, but by all means, I will be thrilled to read gen about these two characters. Or, if you want to bring Roman into the mix, by all means!

+ I would definitely be interested in reading about their richly (no pun intended) fucked-up family history. Based on the most recent episode, they clearly grew up in an abusive household, and if you want to explore that further either via character study or fic about their youth or what have you, I’d be up for it.

+ “I would just ask that you take care of me.” Oh buddy, give me all the fucked-up permutations of that. Hurt/comfort, the weird dominant and submissive thing that especially in that scene seems to be an integral part of their relationship, the sibling rivalry, the constant jockeying for power. I want it all! Get as nasty and as weird, as dark, as you want with them. At the same time, like I said, I’d adore hurt/comfort with these two, especially where even when there’s comfort to be offered there’s always the shadow of doubt there’s an ulterior motive afoot.

+ Fallout from the dinner at the Pierces when Shiv made her own ill-timed and ill-fated announcement as Logan’s successor. Honestly, I would even just love fic where it's the two of them talking about their father. Not just his role as CEO and their desire to succeed him, but what he has done to them as people.

+ Shiv finds out about the caterer’s death. What does she do with the information?

+ Canon-divergent AU: what if Logan really did die from his stroke? Would Shiv have handed the CEO seat over to Kendall, or would she have fought him for it?

+ If you want to go the "trick" route with this exchange: an AU where the Roys are a part of the same world as the Ready or Not family, which is to say: Logan Roy made a deal with the devil for the family’s fortune and success. Play with that literal devil’s bargain any which way you choose. What do they owe as their end of the deal? Is it the same as the plot of Ready or Not and anyone who marries into the family runs the risk of serving as a ritual sacrifice? (If so, sorry, Tom, you’re doomed.) (Also speaking of Rosemary’s Baby…)

+ Or, if you want to run in a dark direction but less supernaturally and satanically inclined: Shiv and Kendall realize there is only one way forward—they have to kill Logan.
