YULETIDE 2019
Dear Yuletide Writer,
'Tis the season, yet again!
I want to preemptively thank you, mystery writer, for whatever it is you are going to write. I adore all the fandoms and characters requested here and I am so excited to see what you come up with. I am open to fic that ranges from G-rated to E, and while I do ship the requested characters for each fandom in some capacity, I would also be more than happy to receive gen fic. Feel free to amend or twist any of the prompts I've offered to fit what you'd prefer to write, be it ship-fic or gen.
I can be found elsewhere as arbitrarily on AO3 and widespindriftgaze on tumblr.
GENERAL LIKES: unreliable narrators; nonlinear storytelling; character study; morally gray characters; moral complexity and/or ambiguity; backstory; missing scenes; outsider POV; epistolary fic; mentor/protege relationships; blurring the lines between professional and personal relationships; codependency (both healthy and unhealthy); dysfunctional families; power play; mind games; antagonism between characters; loyalty and/or loyalty kink; identity porn and identity issues; unexpected intimacy (emotional and/or physical); inappropriate intimacy; super messy, complicated and difficult to categorize relationships between characters (made all the better if/when they share a history and maybe probably repressed feelings); repression, generally; sexual tension; slow burn; hurt/comfort; fake dating and/or undercover fic; road trips; AUs, both of the canon divergence variety and the whole new setting variety (though, that said, I am not a huge fan of mundane AUs, i.e., coffeehouse AUs, high school/university AUs, etc., unless specified.)
If you are interested in writing smut, likes include: friends to lovers or friends with benefits; enemies to lovers; casual sex or sex first, feelings later; first time; workplace sex; rough sex; hate sex; drunk sex; sex as unhealthy coping mechanism; infidelity; dub-con of the sex pollen/fuck or die/villains made us do it variety; biting, bruising and marking; breathplay; choking; orgasm delay/denial; frottage; dirty talk; voyeurism/exhibitionism; under-negotiated kink or D/s; sex as negotiation; sex as ill-advised attempt at communication between characters; wet and messy; overstimulation; size kink; experienced/inexperienced; mutual masturbation; praise kink; power dynamics and power play. [Smut Swap letter for more.]
DNWs: rape/non-con (dub-con is fine); A/B/O or omegaverse; scat or watersports; formal BDSM; issue fic; asexual or trans headcanons (unless requested); kid fic; poly relationships (unless requested); soulmates or soul marks or soul bonds.
This letter is excessively long, and for that I apologize. Everything here is just suggestion or ideas or me yelling to the high heavens about the things I love about each of these fandoms and characters. If you have your own ideas, I totally encourage you to run with them.
Last, spoilers apply for all the canons below!
DAISY JONES & THE SIX – TAYLOR JENKINS REID
Billy Dunne; Daisy Jones
[Note: I am more than okay, and welcome, infidelity for this pairing. That said, while I am more than fine with Camila, Billy's wife, being included I would prefer that she not be a focus.]
• I had an absolute blast reading this book, and as much as I loved the format as an oral history, the one big drawback is that you feel as if you are missing out on elements of the story and the opportunity to live in a character's head. That's a longwinded way for me to say, I would love any kind of character study of either Billy or Daisy or both at the height of the band's popularity and the height of their personal fame that feels more intimate and introspective than the oral history format can fully allow.
• I always, always, ALWAYS love the unreliable narrator trope and very much so feel it could work wonderfully with these two characters. Give me more of their dueling recollections of the same events, their contrasting versions of what happened and how they saw each other. There were glimpses of this in the book, but I would love so much more of that. Consider it an AU, I suppose, but I would love if so much of what they were willing to say on the record for the oral history were mere half-truths or outright lies. In that case, what's the real story between them? What if they decided, independently or maybe a fraught phone call occurred between them before their respective interviews, to each sanitize their history and keep the actual truth private between them? What's the full truth?
• More of recording Aurora. The part of the book devoted to recounting the making of that album was easily my favorite part of the whole book. I would love more of that, as well as a tighter perspective of what that was like for the both of them (beyond what they both said when interviewed.) I want all of it! The madness of Daisy's drug use and her messy irresponsibility, the developing intimacy between Daisy and Billy sat there on a knife's edge of tension as they wrote and recorded that iconic album. And as I said above, I love an unreliable narrator, and I would love if there was more to this story than they were willing to publicly tell.
• More of traveling on tour! Almost Famous is one of my all-time favorite films, and I would adore more of the types of scenes that film captured about life on the road and life in a rock band as they teetered between fame and self-destruction. The rootlessness of travel, the excess, the fans, the claustrophobic buses and the anonymous hotel rooms. Billy trying to stay on the straight and narrow (did he always succeed? or did he fail and keep that off the record?) as Daisy starts to shine brighter and brighter and veers closer and closer to self-combustion.
• Let Fleetwood Mac be your guide (it very clearly was for Taylor Jenkins Reid!)! And for added inspiration look no further than this fantastic Rolling Stone article about the greatest song ever "Silver Springs" (and that was definitely an influence for "Regret Me" in the book) and this always incredible live performance of "The Chain." For as much as I enjoyed this book, one of the major things I found myself craving was more darkness and more ugliness. Give me more drugs, more sex, more rock n' roll! Or, even, just give me more of Daisy and Billy embracing their inner Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham as they create great music and more or less try to destroy (or not destroy) each other. "Talent like Daisy's is wasted on people like Daisy," is such a vicious and cruel thing for Billy to say (in print!) about her (and granted, it was in retaliation for her saying on the record that Billy spent his first tour cheating on Camila and neck-deep on drugs, but), and I would love to read more of that cruelty and brutality between them.
• Canon-divergent AU: What if Daisy was unwilling to leave the tour as she did at the end of the book? What if she decided to make what would seem to be a selfish decision and stay? What would the rest of that tour have looked like? Would the band eventually still break up, and if so, when and where and how?
• In keeping with the format of the novel, I would love epistolary fic in the form of old interviews or old magazine features, other interview transcripts or transcripts of archival footage or whatever you would like from back at the height of their popularity. Maybe there's a discovered unreleased documentary or there's bootleg concert footage that surfaces. Or maybe more of Daisy's song lyrics are found, songs that Daisy wrote that she forgot or wanted to forget. Maybe these various items all directly contradict their present-day oral history, or maybe they confirm it. I love outsider POVs in fic, and I would love to see more of how Billy and Daisy, especially when together or when compared to each other, were viewed by other people.
• Last, if you want to do something set in present-day and have the old band get together for some sort of Rock Hall of Fame induction or some big Grammy event or whatever reason or context you wish to concoct, I would love that. Is this the first time Daisy and Billy see each other since the band broke up? Or, did they lie and omit details and maybe they stayed in touch over the years?
DARK (TV 2017)
Jonas Kahnwald; The Stranger (Dark)
[Note: I completely understand that Martha is important to Jonas (and The Stranger) and to his story, and I am fine if you wish to include her in any capacity. I would, however, prefer that any fic not be heavily focused on her or on Jonas's feelings for her.]
• If this show doesn't make time travel look like a total fucking nightmare, then I don't know what does. I love that the nightmare becomes entirely personal for Jonas: the fact that his father was a child he knew who time-traveled back to 1986 and Jonas’s entire existence is predicated on time travel and the grief his community endures with Mikkel’s disappearance is just, oh boy, heavy stuff. And then! To be presented with the men he will become! First The Stranger and then Adam? Oh boy, yet again. One of the things I love most about this show is what an absolute horror makes both time and identity. I would love if you wanted to play with either of these two concepts or themes in any capacity. If you want to dive deeper into the mythology of the show, go all cosmic or eldritch, by all means! If you want to play around with the effects of prolonged time travel, please! The body horror route beckons, and I’d be all for it. We know from Adam that continued time travel (and, well, radiation exposure) that the body gets broken down with each trip through time. Feel free to lean into it!
• On the identity front, give me all the horror of Jonas—either as a teen or an adult—knowing that Adam is his endgame. That he is who, and what, he will become and the rules of time travel dictate that this fate cannot be unmade. What are the psychological ramifications of knowing that you become the enemy of your own story? Or, even teen!Jonas knowing he will grow up into the man that is The Stranger. What is the psychological effect of that? Or, returning to Adam, what if Adam is only playing him? I would love a story where Adam has been lying to Jonas this entire time. He is not actually Jonas, but Adam knows that the only way to achieve his end goal is to have Jonas, both as a teen and an adult, believe that he is also Jonas. I guess what I am saying here is a) I love identity issues; and b) I love a good mindfuck.
• Which brings us to: what’s the point of a time travel story if you’re not going to engage in a little self-cest? Play with the idea of that any which way you’d like. I am all for identity porn however you’d like to deploy the trope. Maybe teen!Jonas has no idea who The Stranger is only to learn of his real identity later. Or, go the extra fucked route with both of them fully aware they are the same person and with that knowledge they still fuck. The idea I keep getting hung up on and keep returning to is The Stranger or adult!Jonas or however you want to refer to him being all too aware of what he will do/has already done. In the show’s universe, there’s a certain doom assigned to all these predestined fates inside the time loop. What the hell is it like to live with knowledge that your older self fucked your younger self and while you experienced being fucked, you’re fast approaching the age when you have to fuck your younger self thanks to the conscripts of time loop time travel? Or! Worse still if you go the route where teen!Jonas doesn’t know who The Stranger is and The Stranger doesn’t tell him—when does he figure it out? Does he age into the revelation? Recognize himself as he ages into the man he fucked? Go wild, man! This is me giving you all the carte blanche anyone could want to write self-cest time loop time travel fic lol.
• Dimension-hopping! How many dimensions are there? Just the two? Infinite? What is the Jonas like in these alternate dimensions? Season Two ended on one hell of a cliffhanger and I would love to see that played out however you would like. What is this other dimension like? Is it worse than where Jonas left? How can he get back? Does leaving his Winden and his dimension add a new kink into the time loop he was living in, or is that baked into the expected destiny already mapped out for him by his older selves?
• The only way to win is to lose. Pyrrhic victory is in the offing for Jonas if he wishes to close the portal, save the world, all that jazz. I am all for whatever doom and gloom you might want to cook up on this front. Is he willing to sacrifice himself but The Stranger/older!Jonas is against it? How do you try to stop your younger self from saving the world but destroying himself and by extension yourself? How do you grapple with that moral conundrum?
• The bunker! One of my favorite things narratively is the bottle episode, so sticking two people with a complicated and distrustful relationship (and in this case, two people who are the same person) into a small, confined space is catnip for me. Throw them in there as apocalypse bears down on Winden or for whatever reason you would like. Make Jonas literally have to deal with himself, and vice versa, as he endures what would have to be the most literal existential crisis imaginable.
• Outside of the already described self-cest, shipping-wise I would totally be interested in reading Jonas/Noah. It can be teen!Jonas/adult!Noah or teen!Jonas/teen!Noah or adult!Jonas/adult!Noah or adult!Jonas/teen!Noah or whatever other combinations or arrangements of them you can think of. I absolutely loved the episode in the second season when Jonas traveled back to the 1920s and woke to find a younger Noah in his room who led him to adult Noah, and then Adam. So, uh, needless to say Jonas/Noah/Noah? I’m in. I would love that scene before Noah delivers Jonas to Adam to be drawn out. Give me frightened Jonas and all the existential horror! Give me the two Noahs! Or, even, Noah—adult or teen—exercising his resentment and frustration and fear from his doubt-filled relationship to Adam with Jonas and taking it out on him, in whatever way you want that to mean! Or, an extended game of cat and mouse, through the years, leap-frogging from time period to time period, Noah versus Jonas—I would love it.
DUBLIN MURDER SQUAD SERIES – TANA FRENCH
Frank Mackey; Stephen Moran
• Where to even begin! I absolutely love this book series and I love Tana French's writing. If you want to write fic in her style and in the first-person POV, I welcome it (but please don't feel constrained by that! Write in the tense and the POV you wish to write in!) I especially love these two characters she has created and the deliciously slippery push-and-pull of both loyalty and distrust that lives between them. If you want to plunk these two down in a pub for a couple pints and a thousand words of heavily-loaded dialogue, I would adore every word of it.
• Or, if you want to get plotty, Stephen has to work a murder that involves one of Frank’s undercovers, forcing the two of them to work together again. Mutual distrust abounds, and maybe Stephen is convinced that Frank is hiding something or playing him versus Frank’s belief that Stephen’s loyalty is to the squad first and anything and anyone else second and he has to find a way to change that or challenge it.
• I am all for missing scenes or a rewrite of some of their scenes in The Secret Place. The scenes where Frank tried to intimidate Stephen into backing off of Holly were easily some of my favorite parts of that book. More of that intimidation! And hey, if you want to go the ship-route, or the smut-route, if that intimidation evolved into something else or a far different strategy, by all means. Additionally, if Frank and Stephen did keep in touch after the events at St. Kilda’s, in whatever capacity, I would love that, too. Maybe Frank becomes Stephen’s bad penny and keeps turning up when he wants to see him least.
• Or, maybe the first time that Frank and Stephen see each other again after St. Kilda’s is due to an Internal Affairs investigation that inevitably pits the both of them against each other. Unreliable narrators! The both of them recounting the same events differently, either to protect themselves or because they genuinely remember it in their own contrasting ways. If you want to play around with loyalty or loyalty kink, having that fidelity rear its head in unexpected ways between them would be absolutely wonderful.
• Stephen has to work Undercover! Devise whatever reason you wish, or even hand-wave it, I won’t mind, but for whatever reason, Stephen is placed in the field and Frank is his handler. Maybe Frank knows he is deliberately placing Stephen in danger and has chosen to make that gamble. How much of the risk does Stephen know? Or if you really want to go wild, I’d gobble up a twisted retelling of The Likeness where Stephen is the undercover that Frank drops in. Frank and Stephen still have their history, but the dead body they find looks exactly like one Stephen Moran. Give me alllllll that push-and-pull of authority and obedience, Stephen both outside his element and falling under the thrall of pretending to be someone he isn't, all the phone check-ins with Frank, Frank both putting him out on a limb and trying to protect him—all of it!
• And speaking of undercover, again, if you want to write ship fic or smut, I am all in on whatever morally-fucked shit these two might get up to. Bad Guys Made Them Do It? Of course! Fucking to save cover? Yes! I’d also be big into any sort of voyeuristic/exhibitionist content, like namely while Stephen is in the field he is wired and Frank is listening to everything. Maybe Stephen bites off more than he can chew, or he really steps into it, and in order to save his cover identity he has to sleep with the mark or the suspect or whoever, and Frank listens in to the whole thing. Cue the incredibly tense debrief session between Frank and Stephen after!
• I mentioned it above, but I’m going to mention it here: I am so into loyalty and trust when it comes to these two. I feel like neither would ever vocalize that trust or that loyalty in any strict or obvious terms, but through their actions. How you might want to depict that, use your discretion. Whether it’s by bailing the other out from a shitty or dangerous situation, or it’s going well beyond professional duty or protocol for the other, or it’s via sex (i.e., breathplay or barebacking, for example, or really any act or intimacy that requires more than a modicum of trust), I’d be into any or all.
• The Departed-style AU! Go full-on AU and maybe Stephen only got a job as police on behalf of some Dublin gangsters he’s really working for, while Frank has infiltrated the mob on behalf of the police. The two are on a collision course with each other in a dangerous escalating game. Or, maybe Stephen wants out and wants to go legit, and Frank might just be his ticket out (if he's not already compromised himself.)
READY OR NOT (2019)
Daniel Le Domas; Grace Le Domas
[Note: While I totally ship Daniel/Grace, I also am very into Alex and would be more than happy if you wanted to write Alex/Daniel/Grace.]
• First and foremost: fix-it fic! Maybe Daniel survives his seemingly fatal injuries and maybe he is for whatever reason (because he tried to save Grace?) the exception to the rule and he, unlike the rest of his family, doesn’t explode. Or maybe Mr. Le Bail lets Daniel live as either further torture or as an offer of a further deal. Whatever you want to do to make Daniel live through this, I am here for it, and I am especially here for seeing how Grace has to deal with it and deal with him.
• Speaking of Mr. Le Bail, I would be all for fic where at the end, not only does Grace see Mr. Le Bail, but she winds up making her own deal with him. Maybe it’s to keep Daniel alive, maybe she feels she owes him for trying to help her, but to do so, she has to make a literal deal with the devil. And maybe, then, with or without Daniel's help, she tries to outsmart Mr. Le Bail (if anyone could, it’s Grace!). Or, if you want to go darker, she doesn’t or she can't and she’s stuck living with whatever the constraints of the deal are.
• Alternative “Daniel Lives” Idea #453: Grace has to go down to the Underworld and bring him back. Orpheus and Eurydice, retold! Or, Grace has to outsmart her way through Hell to bring him back, questioning herself each step of the way as to why she is so willing to do this. Is it to return the cost he was willing to pay to try and save her? Or does she realize as she goes that maybe it’s more than that.
• Change the rules of the game! Hide and Seek isn’t just for the wedding night: it’s the first year of marriage. For one year, it’s open season on Grace as she is terrorized and has to figure out what’s going on and who is trying to kill her—and if she is capable of killing them first. Does Alex explain to her what’s happening or does she have to figure it out on her own? Does Daniel start working against the family too to help her?
• If you want to go dark and smutty and all sorts of fucked up, consider: Other Rich People Rituals. The Le Domas family member who catches her on her wedding night gets to decide what to do with her. Or, as part of Hide and Seek, once found a whole ritual/droit du seigneur situation is upon the Le Domas family inductee. And, for the sake of fic and the old Fuck or Die chestnut, Daniel is the one who catches her.
• Backstory it!: how and when did Grace and Daniel first meet? Give me all the weird “I’m marrying your brother but more intrigued by you than I’d care to admit” dirty bad wrong business. Or, Daniel’s perspective on meeting her! He knows what Alex is bringing her into and what sort of guilt or even responsibility does he feel about that, beneath the sheer amount of booze he drinks to bury those feelings?
• Another AU route: Grace doesn’t draw the Hide and Seek card. Instead, she is brought into the family as a proper Le Domas. Does she realize what she has entered into and regret it immediately? Do her and Daniel become allies (reluctant on his part) to take the family down from the inside? Or, does she go all in and embrace the darkness and evil?
• And yet another canon-divergent AU: Nothing all that strange happens the night of wedding, but Grace comes to suspect her husband’s family is far more sinister than they let on. Go with the Rosemary’s Baby angle, as her suspicions mount and escalate, Alex tries to convince her there’s nothing to worry about, and Grace begins to doubt her own sanity as she slowly descends into paranoid madness. Is the family actually a bunch of devil worshippers? Or is it all in Grace’s head? How does Daniel fit in with all of this?
• Time loop! The night of her wedding, Grace draws the Hide and Seek card, and not long after, she is killed. But, when she opens her eyes, she is back in her pristine wedding dress and moments from heading down the aisle. How can she break the loop? Is she the only one aware of what is happening? Is she even aware, or does that come later? Is there something about Grace that has allowed this deviation to happen or is this a test by Mr. Le Bail? Play it darkly comedic if you want, a la Russian Doll, or if you want, lean into the horror of discovering you're stuck being murdered by your in-laws over and over again––unless you can figure out a way to kill them first.
SUCCESSION (TV 2018)
Kendall Roy; Siobhan "Shiv" Roy
[Note: I totally ship these two and am very open to receiving incest fic should you wish to write it. At the same time, I am all for more of their canonical relationship and receiving gen fic. Write what you wish to write, mystery author! I just want more of these two and their incredibly complicated relationship! Also: I love Roman and I love both Kendall’s and Shiv’s relationships with Roman, so feel free to bring Roman into the mix if you want, including Kendall/Roman/Shiv.
And a last note: I enjoy Tom in canon and I enjoy the disaster that is his marriage to Shiv, but for the purposes of fic, I’m more than fine if you want to include him but I’d rather he or Shiv/Tom not be a major focus.]
• We have to start with fallout from that amazing Season 2 finale because it's basically all I have thought about since it aired. Kendall just detonated Waystar Royco as they all know it and threw their dad, rightfully, under the bus. When did Kendall decide he was going to do this? (My assumption is when Logan wouldn’t even allow Kendall the comfort of believing he was paying for the death of the waiter by taking the fall for this and referred to him as NRPI, No Real Person Involved, but I would love to read more of the events of the rest of that night, sort of like the last supper before the gallows where Kendall is really envisioning not only his escape but his father’s takedown.) And Shiv! She went to bat in Tom’s defense, against Kendall. When Kendall is announced as the blood sacrifice (good god, is there a more dramatic family), she doesn’t eat and even mentions to Logan the next day when he asks her if she’s okay that she can’t eat. Give me all the swirling emotions she has going on! Does she feel any guilt? Does she feel she sold her brother out to protect her husband? Or is it something else she feels? What the fuck is going through her head during that press conference? And, most excitingly of all, what happens next? Play with that, however you want, big or small, but man, I am fascinated by the sheer scope of possibility of what can happen next after Kendall’s Big Move.
• Which brings me to: Shiv and Kendall team-up, PLEASE, I speak it into existence. (Am I working through all my wild post-S2 finale emotions through these incredibly long-winded prompts? Definitely.) But oh boy, give me Shiv trying to get her shit together (and most likely failing) after the death cruise and her attempt to join Kendall in his challenge against Logan. The inevitable ego collisions, the sniping and the undercutting that operates as instinctual for them, even as they play for the same side. In addition to that, I would love to see the fallout from Shiv not standing up for Kendall and instead choosing Tom looming in the background (or the foreground!). But, I would also be interested in their less negative traits together. Have them plotting and actually working together, that casual intimacy that crops up between them.
• This is a canon and these are characters where I would absolutely gobble up any and all missing scene-style fics. Fallout from that awful dinner at the Pierces and Shiv poorly playing her hand? Yes, please. Shiv and Kendall at Argestes after Logan struck Roman and after Nan ditches the buyout deal? Absolutely. More of Shiv and Kendall in Dundee, and the aftermath of Rhea being named as CEO (as well as the aftermath of Kendall’s whole thing with that actress, the comedown settling in). Definitely. I was living for the very brief moments of Kendall and Shiv (and Connor and Roman) playing the part of the bratty kids hazing the wicked stepmother with how they were treating Rhea before the big party, and if you wanted to go that route, I’d love it. (On a darker, weirder note: Kendall/Rhea/Shiv?—I’d be super into it.) This literal missing scene from the S2 finale? I BEG YOU.
• Or, go even further back, pre-canon. The show gives us so many hints and clues and references to what life was like growing up under Logan and Caroline. They clearly grew up in an abusive household. That was never more apparent than the scene when Logan hit Roman and how all three of the Roy children reacted. I love character studies, and I would love to see how that history impacts them and their relationships to each other as result, both then and now. Or, their mother! We’ve seen at great length the relationship between Logan and his children, but the glimpses we got of Caroline—both at the end of last season and in this season—were fascinating. There is so much history referenced and implied through her brief interactions with her children. Her neglect of them is fairly obvious (no more painfully than when she found a way to ditch Kendall rather than have a conversation he needed), and I’d love to see more of Shiv and Kendall’s relationship with their mother, in whatever capacity. Hey, I’d be game for that first Christmas they are required to spend with her (after serving as pawns in Logan’s negotiation).
• Which, speaking of the holidays and family: per Shiv in Season One, "This was in no way our worst Thanksgiving.” I'd like to see it.
• “I would just ask that you take care of me.” I’m not exaggerating when I say that single scene was the greatest/worst thing to ever happen to me. I am here for all the permutations of this, from hurt/comfort to the more fucked-up dominant and submissive angles that play out in that scene (Shiv’s delivery of “Fucking look at me” truly took me out.) I feel like I had waited for so much of Season Two for someone to finally ask Kendall what the fuck is going on. That it was Shiv who asked and that the moment that followed was so achingly genuine—oh boy, more than I could have ever asked for. I could write a novel dissecting everything everything I loved about that scene, from the insistent paranoia that apparently comes as a package deal as a Roy as Shiv tried to figure out whether their father had promised both of them the throne to the actual emotion between them, but for now let’s just focus on the way Shiv’s face changed when Kendall hugged her and she realized something was Deeply Wrong. I would be more than happy if you wanted to play around with this, especially in the context of the finale. Play with betrayals, big and small; play with loyalty, when it rears its head between them and when it fails.
• And speaking of all in the bullet point above, if you are interested in going the ship fic route, get as nasty and as weird, as dark, as you want with them. I think both characters lend themselves to dominance and submission a little too well, and I would be more than curious to see how that might play out between them. I’d also adore any hurt/comfort with these two, where even when there’s comfort to be offered there’s always the shadow of doubt there’s an ulterior motive afoot. In addition, I loved how that incredibly vulnerable and sincere moment at the end of 2.04 was followed up by business as usual for them—sniping at each other, undermining each other, both jockeying to prove their ideas and their strategies are the right ones. I would love a fic that played with that competitive spirit between them, both how it spurs them on and how it divides them. Underneath that though there is genuine care, and if you want to tangle that more into something toxic and fucked up (and, if you’re willing, sexual), I would love that. And as a brief sidebar: if you choose to go the incest route: the guilt, the shame, and the horror (for lack of a better term) is definitely a feature not a bug for me. I’m not interested in it being accepted even by themselves or if others find out where they’re totally cool about it. The secrecy and the fear of others finding out coupled with self-disgust for wanting it? That’s what I’m definitely into, especially for these two.
• Non-conventional fic formats! Run with epistolary fic!—all the emails exchanged (that are maybe later used as evidence as part of a congressional hearing or a deposition or, you know, if their father and the company faces trial). A magazine profile! An interview! I love outsider POV as a trope in fic and would love to have some poor interviewer tasked with sitting down with the Roys (Kendall and Shiv, in particular; feel free to include the rest of the gang, especially Roman, if the piece is meant to focus on the heirs to the Waystar Royco throne). Or, maybe Connor was meant to be the focus as he mounts his presidential campaign but his siblings steal focus. Or! Tweets about the Roys! Memes, mockery, sightings in New York and abroad—I’d love all of that.
• AU-wise, if you want to go super dark (or super Greek tragedy) here: Shiv and Kendall realize that the only way forward is for Logan to die. There is no future for Waystar Royco, no future for them, if they don’t find a way to permanently remove him from power. Do they go through with it? Or do they hem and haw and, much-suited to the canon and its tone, clumsily plot to kill their father? Can they trust each other? Do they go ahead with it only to destroy both each other and themselves as they doubt the other's ability to keep this a secret?
• Superhero AU. No, I am not kidding. Give me the hero no one needs and absolutely no one deserves: Kendall Roy, world’s worst masked billionaire vigilante. Does Shiv know about it? Does she find out? Give me all the bad press his superhero alter ego gets or the glamorous parties that get crashed by his new foe, Vaulter (aka Lawrence Yee). Is he even actually a hero or is he more of a villain who thinks he's a hero? And SHIV! Unbeknownst to her, in her political work she is helping to make the case against her brother via Senator Eavis. Brother vs. Sister as they compete not only for the family legacy, but also the very soul of Gotham/New York.
Again, I want to thank you for writing for me! I hope you have fun and I wish you a very happy Yuletide season!

You interest me strangely. (I still haven't gotten to Rhea properly but I've seen bits and I like her.)
