DARKEST NIGHT 2020
First off, I want to thank you for writing for me! I have requested fic for all the fandoms and characters listed below, and I cannot wait to read what you write. This letter truly ran away from me, but, as always, everything below is mere suggestion. If you already have an idea in your head or one occurs to you beyond what I've requested––please, run with it!
I can be found as arbitrarily on AO3 and widespindriftgaze on tumblr.
For this exchange, feel free to get as dark as you want, though it's not required! I am cool with you going pitch black if that's the story you want to write just as much as I am cool with a lighter tone. The following lists some of the things I like generally in fic, as well as what I like should you elect to write smut.
GENERAL LIKES
unreliable narrators
nonlinear storytelling
character study
morally gray characters
moral complexity and/or ambiguity
backstory
missing scenes
outsider POV
epistolary fic
mentor/protege relationships
blurring the lines between professional and personal relationships
codependency (both healthy and unhealthy)
dysfunctional families
power play
mind games
antagonism between characters
loyalty and/or loyalty kink
identity porn and identity issues
intimacy in all forms, emotional and/or physical, from domestic and lived-in to unexpected or inappropriate
super messy, complicated, and difficult to categorize relationships between characters (made all the better if/when they share a history and maybe probably repressed feelings)
repression, generally
sexual tension, resolved or unresolved
friends or enemies or colleagues to lovers (or any other scrambled version of this., i.e., friends to enemies to lovers or enemies to lovers to friends)
slow burn
hurt/comfort
infidelity
on the road, travel, road trips, and the entire aesthetic/vibe that goes with it
AUs, both of the canon divergence variety and the whole new setting variety (though, that said, I am not a huge fan of mundane AUs, i.e., coffeehouse AUs, high school/university AUs, etc., unless specified.)
SMUT LIKES
casual sex––or, sex first, feelings later
first time
overstimulation
mutual masturbation
choking or breathplay
fingering after fucking
wet and messy, comeplay
switching (I have no real top or bottom preferences for any pairings listed below)
size kink and size difference
orgasm delay/denial
dirty talk, both the good and the hilariously bad
dub-con of the sex pollen/fuck or die/villains made us do it variety
marking via bruising or biting
sex as ill-advised attempt at communication between characters
sex as unhealthy coping mechanism
drunk sex
hate sex and/or rough sex
voyeurism
friends or enemies or colleagues (or, somehow, all of the above!) with benefits
character study via porn
intimacy an/or trust demonstrated via sex acts
under-negotiated kink or D/s
DNWs: non-con; A/B/O or omegaverse; scat or watersports; formal BDSM; issue fic; asexual or trans headcanons (unless requested); kid fic; poly relationships (unless requested); soulmates or soul marks or soul bonds.
While I have listed non-con as a DNW, some of the requested tags and prompts run contrary to that--i.e., Bad Guys Made Them Do it. In those cases the DNW does not apply. I am more than fine with dub/non-con of the coercive, manipulative, or third-party-and/or-situational-elements-forced-us bent, but DNW physically violent non-con, particularly between the requested pairings.
In some attempt at organization, I tried to group the requested freeform tags with some potential prompts. That said, feel free to do as you wish, mix and match, pick and choose--both with the tags and the offered prompts.
GENERATION KILL
Thanks to being stuck at home the past, oh, four months, I decided to give this show a rewatch for the first time in over a decade, and let’s just say: it basically punched me in throat and now all I want to do is talk about this decade-plus-old miniseries. I would be happy reading any of these freeform tags applied to either Brad/Ray or Tim/Nate, but I also have divided out some of the freeform tags below for these two pairings via prompts. If there is a tag or a prompt for one pairing that sparks inspiration for the other, by all means—please, go ahead and write it. Everything is just suggestion around here!
Alternate Universe - Gideon the Ninth; Alternate Universe - Noir; Alternate Universe - Spies & Secret Agents; BDSM - Breathplay; BDSM - Consensual but Not Safe or Sane; Bullying - Hazing; Fuck or Die; Fuck or Die - Character Would Rather Die; Horror - Survival Horror; Hurt/Comfort; Injuries - Injured Medical Professional Must Instruct Other on How to Treat Their Own Injury; Overstimulation; Plot - Badass in Distress; Plot - Character Enthusiastically Consents to Dark/Dangerous Activity; Plot - Presumed Dead; Plot - Presumed Dead and Left Behind; Punishment - Corporal; Sacrifice - Finding Out Your Lover Won't Sacrifice You for the Greater Good; Self-Harm - Asking for Rough Sex as Unhealthy Coping Mechanism; Self-Harm - Sexual Relationship as Unhealthy Coping Mechanism; Sex Pollen; Sex Pollen - Affecting Only One Character; Sex Pollen - Experienced as Horrifying Loss of Control/Autonomy; Something Made Them Do It; Time - Time Loop; Torture - Undercover Character Forced to Torture a Loved One; Touch-Starved; Trapped - Quarantine; Trapped - Trapped with Someone in Need of Medical Care; Undercover - Forced to Have Sex to Keep Their Cover
Brad Colbert/Ray Person
+ I feel like these two are truly the platonic ideal for me when I imagine the perfect ship, lol. The shared history! The way they always seem to be buzzing on the same frequency even if the way they behave couldn't be any more different! They complement each other so well and there's an emotional fluency shared between them (that scene with the "Brad got dumped" conversation and "It's nice having friends" and the accompanying facial expressions and Gazing™ lives in my head and my heart rent-free) that makes me feel like my hair's on fire. Anything you write that reflects that easy and earned intimacy between the two of them while also cut through with that push-and-pull mutual (and loving?) antagonism that's more or less a cornerstone of their relationship, I am all in.
+ BDSM - Breathplay; BDSM - Consensual but Not Safe or Sane; Plot - Character Enthusiastically Consents to Dark/Dangerous Activity; Self-Harm - Asking for Rough Sex as Unhealthy Coping Mechanism –– I am all for you exploring their relationship via a series of escalating (and increasingly unsafe?) sex acts. I am always a sucker for "fucking first, feelings/relationship develop later," and I think something like that with the both of them--fucking as opposed to talking about how they feel about each other or how they feel about anything (the war, after the war, or any other complicated emotion or experience)--would be fascinating to explore with them. Roughhousing that devolves into manhandling into, idk, aggressive dry humping? Why not! A further devolution from there where sex is distinctly tied to the (implicitly or explicitly consensual) violence between them and it basically becomes Intricate Rituals: The Fic? PLEASE. I would also definitely be into an informal D/s aspect to their relationship, with either character fulfilling either role, if that's something you would want to bake into their evolving relationship. I would definitely prefer that element to be something organic that evolves between them rather than anything formalized or deliberately discussed or planned beforehand (hello, under-negotiated kink! one of my all-time favorites!) And as a side-note, while I didn't select the "Internalized Homophobia" tag for these two, if that's also something you wanted to explore or fold into their dynamic--I am here for it.
+ Alternate Universe - Gideon the Ninth Fusion –– Can you even imagine? Because now that it's entered my head, I can't stop imagining it. Brad as cavalier (he finally gets that sword!) and Ray as necromancer (he can raise the dead, homes!) or Ray as some kind of Gideon-adjacent, foul-mouthed, never-shuts-up shit-kicker cavalier to Brad’s cold-as-ice but weird-as-hell, this-is-serious-business necromancer? Both are so delicious to me, my brain feels like it’s going to melt out my ears thinking about it, let alone even thinking of the possibility of ever reading it.
+ Alternate Universe - Spies & Secret Agents; Torture - Undercover Character Forced to Torture a Loved One; Undercover - Forced to Have Sex to Keep Their Cover –– Continuing the AU train, I would gobble up an AU where either they're both spies, or Ray's the Q to Brad's Bond, or Brad's the handler and Ray's the asset or the other way around. And I definitely would not say no to any and all trope-y goodness that goes with the spy genre, including every and any thing a spy might do to keep his cover and keep himself from being made (and, tied to that, everything a handler might be willing to do as well.) Also, there's little I love more than the asset in the field with his handler's voice in his head via covert earpiece. Brad trying to boss Ray around from a distance (or at least Ray calls it bossing around) or Brad all but ready to tear the earpiece out as Ray keeps rambling his own commentary for everything Brad's doing? That's some good stuff right there. Also good stuff: spy vs spy! And both have to determine whether their loyalty lies with the agencies they serve, or each other.
+ Plot - Badass in Distress –– I have no actual or specific premise in mind here (canon-based, AU, the world is your oyster, mystery writer), but the very idea of Ray having to come to Brad's rescue in any capacity hits my id in a way that words fail to describe. Similarly, Plot - Presumed Dead –– Give me all the melodrama of one of them thinking the other is dead! (And, if you wish, the emotionally (and, uh, sexually) messy reunion!)
+ Bullying - Hazing; Punishment - Corporal –– If you really want to lean into the military angle of the canon, by all means. I'd prefer you maintain the canonical relationship between Brad and Ray, which I suppose is another way of me saying there’s an element of “consent” despite the fact it’s, you know, hazing and/or corporal punishment. For hazing, it could be some deeply fucked Something Made Them Do It scenario before they deploy, or it could just be some dumb shit that gets (wildly) out of hand and ends in a blowjob, or whatever similar situation your imagination might conjure. As for corporal punishment, maybe Brad has enough of Ray’s shit and decides to do something about it. Maybe it starts as a joke (that is very much so not a joke) but they both definitely get off on it, and then just becomes a fucked-up part of their routine.
+ Sex Pollen; Sex Pollen - Affecting Only One Character; Sex Pollen - Experienced as Horrifying Loss of Control/Autonomy; Something Made Them Do It –– My perennial favorite: sex pollen. I am eternally a sucker for this trope and will eagerly eat up any iteration of it. I can’t help but imagine that Brad would totally see this as a nightmarish loss of control should he ever be “dosed” with it—acting on shameful fantasies or buried wants, things that in his right mind he’d never admit to himself let alone act on—so please, by all means—play with that angle if you wish! As for context, I am game for anything. Experimental gas attack with sex pollen-like results? Why not! Further, I always love the conflict of only one character being affected by it and the other character has to decide what they’re going to do about it. I also LOVE some sex pollen aftermath, when it’s all awkwardness (at best) or guilt and shame (at worst) and then trying to navigate the relationship as it now stands between them.
Timothy Bryan/Nate Fick
+ I love their canonical relationship, how it's as if Tim is constantly bluntly and unapologetically giving voice to Fick's frustrations. As I said above, I'd be thrilled with fic set either during canon--at Camp Mathilda, during OIF--or after. Explore that relationship deeper! Have it get weird! Or, if not weird, then definitely sexually complex and fucked-up. Maybe venting and/or stress relief takes on a very different tenor and color as their deployment progresses and worsens? So basically everything I said above about exploring Brad/Ray's dynamic and relationship through a series of escalating (and probably questionably mentally healthy) sex acts as a way to deal with their own stress and/or trauma (enter the Self Harm - Sexual Relationship as Unhealthy Coping Mechanism tag!)? I would love to read that for Tim/Nate.
+ Alternate Universe - Noir –– Here we go with the AUs again! Maybe they’re on the same corrupt police force. Or maybe Doc’s the cynical medical examiner, and maybe he’s had the pulse of both this city and this PD for a good long time now, and Nate, rising star of the force, is only starting to get the score—and how he’s been complicit in all that corruption. Old-school noir or modern or near-future neon-soaked neo-noir, or if you really want to get ambitious and keep them canonically grounded in the military and Nate discovers some insidious conspiracy (well, you know, more insidious than lying about Saddam’s weapons of mass-destruction, but that’s a whole other conversation) and it’s up to Doc to deliver the, “Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown,” lesson for him.
+ Trapped - Quarantine –– The times, they are getting to me. It doesn't have to mirror our current situation, it can be something else entirely, as realistic or ridiculous, as dark, as you want to run with the prompt.
+ Plot - Presumed Dead and Left Behind –– Like I said above: I love the melodrama of the presumed dead plot! Go canon-divergent if you want and have some real disastrous shit (or, you know, more disastrous shit than canon) go down in Iraq. Or, if you really want to go wild, I’m game for some kind of The Martian!AU—presumed dead and left behind ON MARS! Much like the movie/book, either one can be left behind and assumed to be dead. Hell, maybe they’re left behind together after a mission fucked up by command and the idealistic (though increasingly disillusioned) lieutenant of the mission and the consistently angry mission doc are stuck together to try and survive. Cue me idly daydreaming about this plot for the rest of my day and/or days.
+ And speaking of survival! Injuries - Injured Medical Professional Must Instruct Other on How to Treat Their Own Injury; Trapped - Trapped with Someone in Need of Medical Care; Horror - Survival Horror –– Enter me, all but laying my id bare to you. Like I said above, go canon-divergent with it, or set them in a completely different mission--the particulars I am all for hand-waving if necessary. I just want these two thrown into a super bad situation involving some super not-good injuries and they have to rely on each other—and Tim has to rely on Nate doing his job for him—and some emotions (likely my own) are stirred as a result.
+ Fuck or Die; Fuck or Die - Character Would Rather Die –– This is me, again, saying feel free to get as flimsy with context as you want. As mentioned above in the Brad/Ray section, gas attack? Why not. Something stranger, weirder, more sinister and darker? Go for it. What I am mainly interested in is the dynamic between the both of them in such a situation. Nate’s sense of honor and duty butting up against a scenario he has no control over and is forced into doing something he believes to be wrong (probably the military hierarchy and the fact he’s Tim’s superior officer really not helping matters)? Delicious. And then the fallout after? Even tastier.
+ Time - Time Loop –– You know, one of those infinite time loop situations you might've heard about. I have never met a time loop plot I am not obsessively into, so here is me inviting you to take a stab at the time loop plot where these two are concerned. Can’t you just see Tim at his wit’s end after the hundredth iteration of rolling through Iraq? No place worse to endure a time loop scenario than the middle of a war. Maybe the loop resets each time one of them dies, and maybe it takes a few iterations before each of them figure out what's going on and why they are endlessly stuck out in the desert. Maybe it's only affecting Nate, and maybe it doesn't start until they return stateside and suddenly he's repeating the same day over and over and over again, and he eventually seeks Tim out because, y'know, he was their corpsman and all, and maybe it turns out this whole thing is just one elaborate metaphor for PTSD or something.
READY OR NOT (2019)
Daniel Le Domas/Grace Le Domas
Abuse - Gaslighting; Alternate Universe - Characters Are the Bad Guys; Alternate Universe - Serial Killers; Alternate Universe - Vampire; Alternate Universe - Villain Wins; Betrayal - Cheating/Infidelity; Blood - Blood Drinking; Death - Trapped Between Life and Death; Dub/Noncon - Ritual Sex; Dub/Noncon - Sex Required for Magical Ritual; Dub/Noncon - To Resurrect Victim; Dynamic - Bonnie and Clyde; Effect - Character Who Dies in Canon Lives Making Everything Worse; Forced - Forced Turning into Vampire; Ghosts - Character A Is a Ghost That Only Character B Can See and Hear and Touch; Horror - Gothic; Injuries - Bloody and Bruised; Injuries - Wound Fingering; Mental - Descent into Madness; On the Run; Plot - Afterlife/Underworld Rescue; Resurrection - Comes Back More Wrong Every Time; Satanism - Casual Satanism; Violence - Sex in the Blood of Their Enemies
+ Well, if this movie isn't cut out for this exchange, then I don't know what is. I am so into you taking this canon and taking this pairing and making it that much darker, weirder (and, well, sexier lol). I didn't request him, but if you want to include Alex in any capacity, including as Alex/Daniel/Grace, I would be into that as well.
+ Abuse - Gaslighting; Horror - Gothic; Mental - Descent into Madness –– I would be absolutely into reading an AU where Grace isn't sacrificed on her wedding night but, rather, Alex keeps his family's satanic rituals and beliefs a secret as the entire family lives together in that big old mansion and Grace begins to suspect Something Is Not Right as the rest of the family tries to convince her otherwise. Are they planning to sacrifice her? Is there a Rosemary's Baby plot afoot? Are they actually a normal (albeit rich and ergo eccentric) family and everything is in Grace's head? And how exactly does Daniel fit into this?
+ Alternate Universe - Characters are the Bad Guys; Alternate Universe - Villain Wins; Satanism - Casual Satanism –– And another AU for your consideration! Grace does not draw the Hide and Seek card and is brought into the family and she becomes a proper Le Domas. Give me Grace's descent into evil!
+ Alternate Universe - Vampire; Blood - Blood Drinking; Forced - Forced Turning into Vampire –– Another AU? I know, another AU. But, this time: they're vampires! Forget Mr. Le Bail and the Le Domas pact with the devil. The real wedding night ritual is that the new member of the family must be turned if they intend to truly become a Le Domas. Daniel as a surly vampire who is sick to death (pun intended?) of immortality and the family’s rituals and feeding off the innocent. How does Grace react to being turned? Does she feel betrayed? Does she want revenge? Does Daniel enter into her revenge scheme after some cajoling and convincing? Or does she find she actually likes it, the power and the hunger, and she’s actually kind of good at it?
+ Dub/Noncon - Ritual Sex; Dub/Noncon - Sex Required for Magic Ritual –– An alternative to the game of Hide and Seek: droit de seigneur instead of ritual sacrifice. Whoever finds the bride on the wedding night, they are the one to perform "the ritual." And, of course, it's Daniel who finds her and Daniel who has to fuck her.
+ Death - Trapped Between Life and Death; Dub/Noncon - To Resurrect Victim; Resurrection - Comes Back More Wrong Every Time; Plot - Afterlife/Underworld Rescue –– Obviously, I am all in for any and all fucked-up schemes to bring Daniel back to from the dead. Maybe Grace has to go down to the Underworld and bring him back. Orpheus and Eurydice, retold! Or, maybe Grace has to outsmart her way through Hell to bring him back, questioning herself each step of the way as to why she is so willing to do this. Is it to return the cost he was willing to pay to try and save her? Or does she realize as she goes that maybe it’s more than that. Maybe Daniel isn't even really dead, not really, he's trapped between life and death since he "died" before the rest of his family did. How can he be resurrected? Can he be? And if he can, does he come back fully human? And needless to say, I am all for Grace having to fuck a not-really-dead Daniel as part of a ritual to bring him back to life.
+ Effect - Character Who Dies in Canon Lives Making Everything Worse –– And tied to all of the above, the inevitable result of Daniel living! I'm not sure how much worse things could get canonically speaking, but by all means, mystery writer, have at it!
+ Ghosts - Character A Is a Ghost That Only Character B Can See and Hear and Touch –– If Daniel does stay dead, and after the dust settles and the Le Domas Massacre is out of the news and bit by bit Grace is attempting to get her life back to normal, when suddenly Daniel appears to her. And then he doesn't leave. He's haunting her. Does he want to be haunting her, or is it some kind of weird after effect from the pact with Mr. Le Bail? Alternatively, what if the ritual is completed and Grace is killed, and now she haunts Daniel, reminding him of how he ultimately failed her.
+ Injuries - Bloody and Bruised; Injuries - Wound Fingering –– Give me gore! Bones breaking, gunshot wounds, stabbed and sliced and diced; lean in to the slasher genre of the film! Clearly, I am all for both gore and sex when it comes to these two. And if you want to go real gnarly with it, I more than welcome a little wound fingering, by either (or both?) parties.
+ Alternate Universe - Serial Killers; Dynamic - Bonnie & Clyde; On the Run; Violence - Sex in the Blood of Their Enemies –– It's just AU after AU over here! But, yeah. What it says on the tin: Grace and Daniel are serial killers on the run. Do they slaughter his family? Is that where it starts, and then from there, it’s just a killing spree across the country as they try to stay one step ahead of the law and their own doom? Or is it a more accidental thing—Grace has no choice but to kill his family in order to escape her wedding night, and maybe Daniel doesn’t die that night. Instead, he tears off with her, leaving behind his murdered family, and from there it’s just goes from bad to worse as they keep getting themselves into situations they have to kill their way out of.
SUCCESSION (TV 2018)
Kendall Roy/Siobhan "Shiv" Roy
Alternate Universe - Cults; Alternate Universe - Mob; Alternate Universe - Southern Gothic; Betrayal; Betrayal - Aftermath of Betrayal; Betrayal - Betraying Loved One for the Greater Good; Corruption - Moral Corruption; Drugs - Cheating Due to Drugged State; Drugs - Drug Use; Dub/Noncon - Somnophilia; Dynamic - Dysfunctional Relationships; Effect - Regret After Giving in to Sexual Desire; Incest; Incest - Shame After Incestuous Relationship Becomes Public; Manipulation - Emotional Manipulation; Mind Games; Plot - Becoming the Thing That You Most Hate/Fear
+ All I am ever thinking about is the fallout from the end of Season 2. So, please, give me that Season 2 fallout! Insert the requested Betrayal and Betrayal - Aftermath of Betrayal tags here! Give me the messy landmine-filled landscape of their relationship as the family company has splintered into various factions and all the ugly ways their mutual distrust manifests between them. Which brings us to some more tags: Manipulation - Emotional Manipulation and Mind Games. I would love to read about all the ways the both of them try to play each other (and fail). I want that cat-and-mouse, power play see-saw as the upper hand swings back and forth between them and they both come to realize there isn't a thing they aren't willing to do to get one up on the other.
+ Another potential Betrayal route, I would love to read would be an alternate Season 2 where Kendall and Shiv were fucking the entire time. My kingdom for it! Did it start after when Shiv comforted him? Tern Haven? All the way back at the Hamptons and Shiv's anger at Kendall took on a distinctly inappropriate and sexual bent? Does she still betray him at the end of the season, and if so, do either of them try to neutralize the other now that they have the worst possible ammunition against them?
+ Alternate Universe - Cults; Alternate Universe - Mob; Alternate Universe - Southern Gothic –– The trio of potential AUs,all of which I would enjoy beyond words! First of all, the Roy family running their own scientology-like cult is just too much, and the idea of Kendall being ostracized from it after trying to go after their father (and then later, I don’t know, revealing all the cult’s misdeeds?) is even better. Or, get even darker and weirder about the cult—literal blood sacrifices? Kendall is selected as that blood sacrifice? Tell me more! Talking about cults more or less ties into ideas I have about the Southern Gothic AU idea I have because Logan Roy as the corrupt leader of a megachurch down south? Kendall as the prodigal son who can never get it right? Shiv as the hungry daughter constantly held down by the church and their consideration of a woman’s place? The vastly inappropriate relationship that develops between the both of them? PLEASE. And as for the mob AU, man, it can be just like canon: their father, responsible the New York syndicate, suffers a stroke and now his children, who really only Kendall has had a role in the grittier dealings of the “family business,” are jockeying for power in the most blood-thirsty and blood-spilling way possible.
+ Effect - Regret After Giving in to Sexual Desire; Incest - Shame After Incestuous Relationship Becomes Public –– You don't have to necessarily have to use these two tags in conjunction in the same fic, but they both do play with the same ideas of regret and shame I would love to see attached to the both of them. I think the both of them operate very differently when it comes to being called out or made to feel shame, and I would love to see that dichotomy play out, especially when the source of the shame is the fact they are fucking each other. Give me that nightmare as some gossip column makes public the fact the two of them have a longstanding incestuous relationship. Go one better and have it be a lie, or half the truth, and while they have never consummated anything, let alone ever talked about it, it's as if having a deep dark hidden desire laid bare. How does that further fuck up their relationship?
+ Corruption - Moral Corruption; Plot - Becoming the Thing That You Most Hate/Fear –– Some real "live long enough to become the villain" shit right here, and I am here for it. Kendall has finally become a killer! He becomes the sort of man their father can actually see as a successor. Give me the further corruption of the Roy siblings and give me ruthless and hollowed-out Kendall!
+ Dub/Noncon - Somnophila; Incest –– I would be more than into reading anything set pre-canon between the two of them. If you want to go the backstory route and establish a history of incest between the both of them, I would absolutely love to read that. The show gives us so many hints and clues and references to what life was like growing up under Logan and Caroline. They clearly grew up in an abusive household. That was never more apparent than the scene when Logan hit Roman and how all three of the Roy children reacted. I would love to see how that history impacts them and their relationships to each other as result, both then and now. Or, their mother! We’ve seen at great length the relationship between Logan and his children, but the glimpses we got of Caroline—both at the end of last season and in the second season—were fascinating. There is so much history referenced and implied through her brief interactions with her children. Her neglect of them is fairly obvious (no more painfully than when she found a way to ditch Kendall rather than have a conversation he needed), and I’d love to see more of Shiv and Kendall’s relationship with their mother, in whatever capacity, and tied to that, how (unhealthily) Kendall and Shiv use each other for the comfort and affection they cannot get elsewhere in their family.
Eduard Asgarov/Roman "Romulus" Roy
Abuse - Condescending Praise; Captivity; Dub/Noncon - Bad Guys Made Them Do It; Dub/Noncon - Dubcon Due to Eagerness to Please; Homophobia - Internalized Homophobia; Humiliation; Kink - Sexual Inexperience; Manipulation; Mental - Pressure to Live Up to Expectations; Mental - Shame in Sexual Desire; Plot - Sex for Favors
+ In the interest of full disclosure, the primary reason I am requesting this is simply because I find this entire dynamic super hot. That, and Roman was taken hostage while in Eduard's company, which brings us to bullet point number two.
+ Captivity; Dub/Noncon - Bad Guys Made Them Do It –– Will I always be a sucker for this trope? Is there a hotter dude than Eduard for someone to have to fuck? Do all of Roman's hang-ups and issues where sex is concerned make this all the worse (and therefore all the better)? The answer to all of these questions is yes, and if your brain slants in this direction as well, I would more than love to see what you might do with it.
+ Dub/Noncon - Dubcon Due to Eagerness to Please; Plot - Sex for Favors –– Similarly, every single relationship in this show is defined by a mercenary quid pro quo and what each party can bleed from the other. If you want to tweak their shared scenes in the "Argestes" episode (namely, when Roman approaches him and they wind up in the bathroom together) or later, like at his father's party in the "Dundee" episode, or legit any time from the pitch to being held hostage in the "D.C." ep, and give them a fucked-up sexual interlude prefaced, on Roman's end, on the belief that this is what he needs to do to get the cash from Eduard and solidify their business relationship, I would love it.
+ And further into that, should you go down the sexual relationship route, I would love to see any of the requested tags--such as the Internalized Homophobia tag or the Shame in Sexual Desires tag or the Pressure to Live Up to Expectations tag--explored for Roman.
CROSSOVER FANDOM
Camille Preaker (Sharp Objects)/Kendall Roy (Succession)
Altered States - Alcohol; Altered States - Drugs (Recreational); Dreams - Dreams Bleeding into Reality; Dub/Noncon - Dubious Consent Due to Identity Issues; Dub/Noncon - Dubious Consent Due to Mutual Intoxication; Incest - Accidental; Mental - Character Doesn't Care About Own Well-Being; Plot - Unresolved Issues from the Past; PTSD - Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; PTSD - Trauma Triggered During Sex; Punishment - Sex as Self-Punishment; Scars; Self-Harm; Self-Harm - Asking for Rough Sex As Unhealthy Coping Mechanism; Self-Harm - Sexual Relationship as Unhealthy Coping Mechanism; Trauma - Character Is Hiding Aftereffects of Trauma

+ That's it, that's the request. Just kidding. I have way more to say. Allow this gif set to be Exhibit A for my reason for requesting these two. Two people destroyed by their parents’ emotional abuse who inadvertently find each other and maybe fuck each other up that much more? Yes, please. Inherent class issues built into this pairing? Love it. I feel like Camille could be folded into Kendall’s world by making her a reporter, maybe she got out to New York, maybe she works for PGM, and they meet that way. Maybe she’s interviewing him? Or maybe they meet in her neck of the woods. There’s something so infinitely appealing about the sweat-drenched, woozy neo-Southern Gothic vibe that miniseries had, and I can’t help but be amused imagining Kendall Roy of all people dropped into it.
+ The majority of the tags I requested for these two all apply to the canonically messy aspects of both of these characters--i.e., all tags related to Drugs or Alcohol and the tags relating to Self-Harm, Scars, and Trauma. I would just be deeply intrigued by seeing these two people, so deeply damaged by their parents, shoved into the same room, and rather than work through their issues or help each other, they sublimate them through risky behavior. I also think Camille is someone is infinitely more self-aware than Kendall could ever hope to be, both by virtue of the fact he is a man in a man’s world and in how they view themselves.
+ Dreams - Dreams Bleeding into Reality –– There is a certain ~magical realism element to the Sharp Objects miniseries that really lent itself to Camille’s unraveling, and I think that would be something very cool to explore via fic. Especially when you throw Kendall and his multitude of issues (especially family-related) into the mix. That frightening unbalance between what is known to be real and what is imagined, exacerbated through Camille’s drinking and Kendall’s substance abuse—you got a stew going there!
+ Incest - Accidental; Dub/Noncon - Dubious Consent Due to Identity Issues –– Consider this to be the hail mary of all fic request passes: Camille is secretly Logan’s daughter. Maybe, a long time ago, Logan had a brief affair with Adora, and enter Camille. He secretly paid alimony her entire childhood, she never met him, never even knew he was her father--or maybe she does figure it out, that journalist's mind put to work. And maybe she decides to seek out the Roy family? See if this family that she grew up seeing play out in the news is any better than the family she grew up with. And in classic Camille style, she gets too drunk and she winds up fucking the brother she never knew (until recently) she had. Or, if you want to go the real mindfuck route, maybe she doesn't find out until after. How ever you want to play the long-last siblings card, I am here for it.

+ While I didn't specifically request her, feel free to include Camille in any capacity. I would not be opposed to Amma/Amy/Camille, if your mind bent in that direction. Or if Camille is the target of Amma and Amy’s combined interest, ire, homicidal impulses—whatever.
+ As to the logistics of the whole situation, maybe before Camille discovers that Amma was behind the killings in Wind Gap but after their mother is sent to prison, she moves the two of them out to the same suburb where Amy lives with her husband. Amy a local celebrity after first her disappearance and then her return. Amma, of course, drawn to her. Amy as Amma’s murder mentor? Does the student outpace the master? Or enemies, entrenched in suburbia, trying to ruin each other’s lives? Amy tries to use Camille against Amma? I am here for any and all of it.
+ Speaking of mentorship: Murder - Killing Lessons; Violence - Arousal from Killing. Amy taking Amma under her wing, maybe she feels a kinship, maybe she feels drawn to her, and teaches her how to commit the perfect murder--completely unaware that Amma has already gotten away with murder. A spate of serial killings crop up in the area, and like I said above--the student outpaces the master.
+ Or, if they wander into a different direction: Plot - Rough Sex to Stave Off Other Violent Urges. The both of them using each other's bodies as they barely avoid leaning into homicide? I love it.
+ Manipulation; Mind Games; Obsession; Plot - Character Has to Kill or Injure the Enemy They Reluctantly Admire –– If you wanted to play out Amy and Amma's relationship in this direction, I would absolutely love it. Rather than Amy teaching Amma anything, the two of them become obsessed with each other and plot to ruin each other's lives at any cost, while coming to respect the other as a worthy adversary. Basically, speaking of obsession, I am obsessed with the idea of these two playing cat-and-mouse games with each other that escalate into the deeply inappropriate and potentially fatal.
+ Alternate Universe - Witchcraft; Magic - Magical Corruption –– Witches! Witches in the suburbs! Amazing Amy as the master of the dark arts, and Amma as her new pupil (perhaps against Amy’s better judgment)? Sign me up.
I want to thank you again for writing for me, mystery author! I am sure I will enjoy whatever you come up with, and I hope you have fun!
